Kettles Buying GuideSubmitted by John Lewis Mon, 10 May 2010
There are endless varieties of tea available in as many different flavours and so that is why there are many different ways to brew tea. For example, if you prefer to use loose tea instead of tea bags then you will have to get a stove top kettle. Loose tea has comparatively more flavour than the ones available in tea bags; however, if you are looking for a hassle-free and quick solution, an electric kettle is perfect choice for you.
Another important factor for your selection is the capacity of the kettle. A compact kettle that makes 2-4 cups of capacity tea would suffice the purpose for a single person, whereas, a kettle with about 2 litres of capacity is a better option for a family with 4-5 people. Usually, kettles are available in two different types, a stove top kettle or an electric kettle. However, it is not just the type of kettle that differs; some models are available in various materials such as stainless steel, copper, plastic and glass. The following information highlights common features of a kettle. - A kettle with whistle is a practical choice if you have a big house and you move around a lot. It will inform you when the kettle has boiled, which is useful when you are busy in another room. - The lid and spout is another feature you should look at when buying a kettle. A removable lid could be messy at times whereas a narrow spout will take much longer to fill and might also be prone to spilling water. So, make sure you buy a kettle you are comfortable using everyday. Features specific to electric kettles: - Electric kettles are either cord and cordless. A cordless kettle comes with a detachable heating element on the base which enables you to avoid potential dangers. Yet kettles that have a cord are usually sold at a lower price. - The automatic shut off feature prevents you from turning on the kettle if there is not enough water. Not only that, it also turns off automatically after boiling the water to the optimum level. - An attached water filter captures the minerals and other materials present therefore allowing you to enjoy purified and tastier tea.
