Washing, waxing and polishing a floor can be a long, tiring job. One of the things that you must do is to try to keep the floor as clean as possible. Some people only have to clean their floors once a week but if you have pets and children, these tasks sometimes need to be performed more often. On the spot cleaning will help to keep the dirt under control, simply wipe the floor with a damp mop. To get your floor looking like new you must apply some type of Floor Wax. No wax floors are also in many homes and people use products that give the look of a waxed floor without the work. After some time these products can cause a build up of wax making your floor yellowish in color.

Floor Wax should be removed from floors at least once a year. Linoleum and tiles become discolored after some time and rather than have these removed you must constantly sweep and then wash them. Dirt particles tend to get walked over and ground into the floors making it harder to clean. Vacuuming and sweeping regularly helps to eliminate this. Rules of thumb when cleaning are to remove all furniture from the area unless to heavy. Sweep or vacuum thoroughly, then wash the area with water and a disinfectant or cleaner. Try to sponge mop them once or twice a week to help keep the dirt under control and also leaves your floors looking bright.

To remove build up of Floor Wax you must apply a mixture of detergent, ammonia and water. Wait a few minutes, then take a hard brush and start scrubbing! Let dry completely then wax using a floor wax that is made specifically for your type of floor. There are many different strengths of waxes found on the market today designed for a specific floor type so be sure to check the label carefully to find out what product suits yours. Make sure to let dry completely and then sit back and enjoy the look of your newly waxed floor. Remember that you can also wipe over these waxed floors periodically with a weaker mixture of detergent, water and ammonia to stop the build up of wax and discoloration of your floor.
