Stay Above Water with Pool Floats

One thing is for sure and that is when it is time for the young and the young at heart to jump into the pool they will need some pool floats to be there when they “splash down”. However; before you run right out to your local pool supply store and buy up everything that they have in stock, you will want to know a few things about pool floats.

The first thing that you will need to know is that soft rubber foam pool floats are now available that take the place of inflatable pool floats. They are a bit more expensive to buy but they far outlast inflatable floats that are prone to leaks.

Also think twice before you buy any giant pool floats, because while the big floats may be fun at the river, lake or beach they don't work as well in the confined space of a pool.

Never bring anything that is hard such as even the smallest surf board or rigid flotation device in the pool, because in the rough and tumble pool environment that kids play in, eventually everything gets knocked into someones head or mouth.

So this means no plastic bats or swinging toys either. Balls make excellent pool float toys and remember to buy the cheap soft balls for the pool. Larger more durable balls like soccer, basketball or footballs can really hurt when they hit someone while they are wet and they will in the pool.

You will also need a place to keep your pool floats when they are not in use or they will deteriorate in the sun and also dogs love to chew on them. An extra large trash can will do as will a large piece of net hanging from a fence in the shade. Remember also to let your pool floats dry well before you store them away.
