The bedroom is the new kitchenSubmitted by lazysubmit
Have you ever noticed at informal family parties or friendly nights out that the party revolves around the kitchen and kitchen area? At my family functions, the party is in the kitchen. Uncles stew over the sink, aunts enjoy a inner-personal roast by the oven, my grandparents shoo everybody away and my nieces and nephews run through their legs! It's the constant "kitchen rotation" as I like to say it.
The kitchen rotation is a social phenomena that I have experienced in my personal life. However, in my industry, the furniture industry, there are things happening that promise to change our focus in the home. In today's home-centric, technology focused environment there is a big push for the furniture industry to bring furniture up to speed with technology. Today, the furniture industry is creating more reasons to stay in the bedroom, work in the bedroom, read in the bedroom, relax in the bedroom and enjoy your bedroom! The push is leaving the kitchen and headed to the bedroom and your bedroom furniture. With the constant advancements of technology, thinner notebooks, softer bright lights, PDA's, cell phones, there are more reasons to stay in bed in the bedroom every single day! So, to keep up with the technology furniture manufacturers from around the world are creating new and exciting designs to accommodate for the "stay in the bedroom" couple. Those technologies include, built in IPod holders, surround sound on your beds headboard, built in power strips and connectivity, easy access storage for electronics like you ultra thin notebook, cell phone and PDA. Today's bedroom furniture looks as traditional as it always has, but, has the added benefits of technology based design and invention. The results of the accommodating bedroom set is that we as people are spending more time in bed! More time in bed working on our computers, more time reading our books, more time using our phones. The bedroom is the new kitchen! About the Author
