Teak is the best quality tropical hardwood. Teak, hardwood of the family Verbenaceae, originally comes from the word ‘thekku' (Malayalam language) part of India. Its scientist name is Tectona Grandis L.f. It has big leaf around 12" long and wide that fall at dry season, straight stem, with a diameter of 3 to 5 ft and the height up to 130 ft. to 150 ft.

Teak is grown almost in whole part of the planet but the finest one found in Indonesia. That's why Indonesia known as one of best teak wooden furniture manufacturers through out the world. It began in early 1800s when Dutch came to Java, Indonesia. There, they planted teak in that country for the first time. Then the national government took over wood trade control.

Teak has its own characteristics. It grows in dry hill plantations instead of rain forests. After minimum 50-60 years being planted, teak is ready to be crafted into furniture, shipbuilding, or house building material. It is best chosen for several decades until now.
In recent times, teak wood is best for furniture trend. Since teak furniture has been known for its durability and resistance toward any weather condition, rot and plant disease. It makes the teak easy to maintain and can be lasted for long years.
