To Clean Casements

Crank the casement window out all of the way until it is at a 45 degree angle. Take some soap and water and wash the glass with a sponge. Be sure to also clean the vinyl exterior of the window at the same time. After you wash the window with soapy water, use a squeegie to remove the excess water. This is the most effective way to clean windows and is also more earth friendly than using window cleaner.

When cranking open casements, be careful of wind. On a very windy day, casements can be battered if opened too wide. This can cause the glass to even break. Casement windows are easy to care for and look great in your home, but do not leave them cranked out on very windy days. Casement windows are among the easiest style of vinyl windows to keep clean.

To Clean Double Hung Windows

The new vinyl double hung vinyl windows are easy to clean. Simply slide the window up and towards you. You will then be able to clean both sides of the glass from the inside. Use the same method of soap and water and a squeegee to clean the windows. While glass cleaner is great for cleaning dust off of mirrors and glass in the house, it does not work well to remove the stains caused by birds and other elements outside. For this reason, you are better off to use soap and water. You do not need special soap - simple dish washing liquid will do.

Another way you can really get the glass on your window to shine is by using old newspaper and vinegar. This is one of the oldest methods to clean glass but it still works well. Use distilled white vinegar for the job. You will be surprised at how well this inexpensive method shines the glass on your vinyl windows.

Unlike wood, Vinyl Windows can be cleaned with soap and water. Whereas wood often warps over time when exposed to water, vinyl is not porous and will deflect the effects of water. You can easily wipe down the vinyl exterior of the windows when you clean the glass.

Cleaning the new Vinyl Windows that are manufactured today is very easy and takes only an hour, if that. Stationary windows, of course, must be cleaned from the outside, but casements and double hung windows can easily be cleaned from the inside of the home in a matter of minutes.
