Warm Up Your Home With Wood D

Submitted by neillisa

Wood has a way of brightening up a home that few other materials can match. Whether it\'s the welcoming shade of a hardwood deck or the warm tones of a wooden table, wood décor never fails to give a room a touch of character. These days, it also has the added appeal of being all-natural-and with many designers pushing for eco-friendly options, it\'s the perfect fit for a lot of modern homes.

Not sure how to get started? Here are some wood décor suggestions to give you a few ideas.

Flooring

Flooring materials may come and go, but wood will always be on top of the list for many homeowners. They can be expensive and may require some maintenance, but the beauty and quality they offer is more than worth their price. You can choose from hardwoods like oak, maple and walnut, or go for light softwoods such as pine and spruce. One isn\'t necessarily better than the other. As long as they\'re properly maintained, wood floors are sure to last a lifetime and never go out of style.

Counters

With granite and marble taking over kitchens for the last few years, it\'s nice to go back to basics with a simple wooden counter. Wood works particularly well in kitchens where it lends a warm, welcoming glow and provides a nice focal point. If you\'re going for a country theme, a wood counter would be the perfect central piece. If you have a wood or laminate floor, choose a wooden counter that matches the shade and grain to give the whole space a unified look.

Furniture

Wood furniture may not sound very comfortable, but you\'d be surprised at the range of ergonomic pieces available today. Since wood is easy to work with, you can find furniture pieces made specifically to match the body\'s contours. So whether it\'s a chaise lounge, a bench or a reading chair, wood always makes great furniture. Wood furniture also tends to have a lot of character-just place a unique wooden table in the middle of your room and you\'ve got an instant conversational piece.
