Shopping for a new vacuum cleaner is never easy. There are so many makes and models and choosing the right one for you can be a challenge. By asking a few simple questions about your specific situation, you’ll be able to make an informed decision. The following are a few important questions that should be asked.

What type of floors do you have?

Is the flooring in your house made up of carpets or hard wood? Some vacuum cleaners are designed for hardwood floors, while others work better on carpets. If you have mostly hard wood floors you should consider a vacuum that includes power brooms or sweepers that work just like a dust pan and broom. They are powered like a traditional vacuum; however you don’t need to bend over to collect the dirt. It’s simply sucked into the vacuum cleaner. If you own mostly carpets, you should consider using a traditional upright or canister vacuum cleaner.

How large is your home?

If your house is large you should look into getting a heavy duty or commercial vacuum. This will ensure that it doesn’t wear out too soon. They might be more expensive, but they will certainly last longer.

Do you have pets or children?

If the answer is “yes” you may want to consider getting a vacuum that also includes a steam cleaner. Anyone who has pets or children knows how easily stains can happen. By owing a steam cleaner you’ll be able to remove the stains before they have a chance to set in.

How much traveling do you do?

This may seem off the subject but people who does a lot of traveling should consider getting a vacuum that can also be used to clean out their car or recreational vehicle. This way you won’t have it extra cost of purchasing one specifically for your car. Also having a clean car will make road trips much more enjoyable and fun!
