Home Security For Less Than $30

Submitted by Brian Bees

No one aims to be the victim of a home invasion, but crime reports show that home intrusions continue to rise. Drugs and rising unemployment are just a few of the reasons. Recent Federal Bureau of Investigation statistics show that a house, apartment or condominium is burglarized once every 15 seconds.

Fortunately, burglary is the most preventable of crimes. By taking a few simple precautions, you can dramatically reduce the risks. The term is called "hardening the target". Steps you can take to cause a thief to bypass your house and move on to an easier target. These include better locks, solid doors, outdoor lighting, to a home security system of some type. In most burglaries, access was gained because the area was not protected by a surveillance or security system. Ninety percent of police state that a burglar alarm helps to deter invasion attempts.

General Electric to the rescue with the new GE 51107 Wireless Alarm System Kit! For less than $30 the GE Alarm Kit provides a quick to install, simple to use, cost effective security solution.

The GE 51107 Wireless Alarm System Kit includes everything you need to help secure your home, a deluxe door alarm with a four-digit keypad for entering a custom code, and three independent window alarms. Best of all, there is no wiring or drilling required for installation. An Alarm delay feature avoids false triggering.

The Alarm mode is 120 decibel for maximum protection and a Chime mode that sounds each time a door or window is opened. The audio specification of 120 decibel means that it is loud enough to awaken you from a sound sleep, and make a would be intruder think twice about entering through your doors or windows.

Inform your neighbors that you have installed a security system and tell them what action you would like for them to take if your alarm sounds. Better yet, organize or participate in an Apartment Watch or Neighborhood Watch program. This is a proven crime-reduction program. Most police departments will conduct a security survey and assist in setting up such a group.

The GE Security system described is a good basic system providing protection at an affordable price. What a comforting feeling, knowing that you will be alerted if a burglar attempts an entry to your home. Later, as you become more security aware, you can explore systems with additional features, motion detection, fire detection, contacting a monitoring service, and others tailored to your particular situation.

Whether you live in a house, a condo or an apartment, a break-in can permanently shatter your feeling of security at home. In addition to the lost items, time is lost on handling the police, legal, insurance, and other problems.

The good news is that there has never been a time when such quality security equipment like the GE Wireless Alarm System Kit has been available, and at such an affordable price. Remove the opportunity - prevent the burglary. Home intrusions are on the increase, now is the time to make sure your home is secure.
