Surveillance is a very important part of security and home security is no exception to this. Although cameras used for surveillance cannot prevent breaches in security, they can capture the images, store them and help the law enforcement to apprehend the culprits before it is too late.

The primary phase of any home security exercise is to install home security surveillance cameras at the blind spots. Blind spots are those spots where there is a maximum chance of intrusion taking place. This includes the entrance to the home too. Keeping an eye on these spots is very important especially if you live in areas that have a higher crime rate.

Home security surveillance cameras come in a lot of variety and are classified by their lens resolution. Each model has a unique set of features that can be used for a particular purpose. For example, the IR rated cameras can see in the dark and shoot pictures or transmit images as though it was broad daylight. This is due emission of infra-red light from bulbs built around the lens. This light is not visible to the naked eye.

Selecting the right kind of home security surveillance cameras would take some research. Afore the research you will need to understand your own security needs as to how many cameras are required and where do you intend to pace them. After this is done, look for the features on various models and check which fits your requirement the best.

Many cameras are also on the expensive side. You will need to balance your budget according to your needs and make the right choice. Cutting your budget is not advisable here since the concern is the security of your family and property. If you think you have a lower budget you can complete the installation of home security surveillance cameras in phases by taking care of the critical areas of your home first.
