Facts and Myths on Inflatable Air Beds - Know the Truth before Buying One for Your Home

Submitted by tess.brahm@gmail.com

Many are opposed to the idea of getting inflatable air beds for each bed in the household -- preferring to go with traditional beds and mattresses that have been used in homes since time immemorial. In truth, this aversion to modern convenience is due to the lack of information about it.

From the name itself, it would be safe to say that most of you know that an air bed or air mattress looks like and that's it. If you want to determine whether it's a good idea to buy one or not then you better get to know the truth about it before you decide.

Facts 101

As the name implies, inflatable air beds are mattresses made comfortable by pumping air into it. The inner design allows the air to move to and from the sections inside the bed that is surrounded by cushions to provide comfort. There are air beds, however, that are made without cushions; but these are usually the cheap ones that you can easily dispose without having to worry about its worth.

These beds are quite handy to have for use in and out of your home. You can use it as a primary mattress for you bed instead of the usual coil and spring mattress you see in stores today. However, many families consider these items as extra beds to be used in case of emergency -- like having people sleep over your place when you have extra rooms to offer. Turn your living room into an impromptu bedroom with a simple air bed.

Also, inflatable air beds are space savers. Deflate it and store it inside your cabinet, underneath your bed, out in the garage, and the like. Bring it out when its needs and put it back where it belongs when you're done with it.

Myth

There are misconceptions revolving around the practical use of an air bed. Many thinks of it as an overgrown balloon shaped like a bed that can pop easily when too much pressure is applied to it or due to something sharp underneath.

Though this might be true, air beds today are made to be durable. Popular brands, like Coleman, have made full size air mattress that can easily accommodate 2 to 3 people without bursting. Also, Coleman's king air mattress is quite popular for outdoor activities, such as camping trips, for kids to play out when out in the yard, as extra bed for sleepovers, and more.

Inflatable air beds are considered to be great substitutes for the traditional spring and coil mattress. They save space, can be used for outdoor activities, and durability to last. King size air mattress perfect for the family bedroom or a more comfortable sleeping time for you toddler with kid's air mattress.
