Many conventional floor drains silently leak over the years, creating costly repairs and major inconvenience to home owners. The design of most floor wastes available on the market is flawed, allowing water to seep between the flange and the waterproofing membrane, causing water damage to the surrounding area. The Building Services Authority of Australia believes improper waterproofing around floor wastes is one of the most common building faults.

A Brisbane designer, Brad Chadwick has created leak prevention floor wastes that have 3 patents on their unique design features and which have recently been named as finalists in the Standards Australia International Design Awards.

"I've been a builder and waterproofing specialist for over 20 years, and the last 14 years I have been perfecting our range of Rocktop adjustable floor wastes. I have worked with tradies and know what bugs both them and the end user about their drains".

"In my experience none of the membranes systems used today bond permanently to the flange of the floor waste, which means leakage over time. The patented design of our membrane clamps means there is no leak between the membrane and the flange."

"If you have a floor or plumbing that is on a slight angle, you need to install adjustable floor wastes so that there is no lip to trip over or trap water. We have created a patented adjustable floor waste that pivots up to 8⁰ which allows for uneven surfaces. It also is designed to cater for different tile bed thicknesses."

Many people look for pristine shiny finish to their floor wastes. Rocktop Marketing has invented a special clear plastic cover for their floor wastes that can remain in place throughout construction and tiling. This means there is little chance of foreign matter getting down the drain and causing blockages. It also means that once the tiler has finished they can remove the cover leaving a perfect grate for the customer.
