Cell Phone Drinking Flasks: Warning to Parents and EducatorsSubmitted by msleahlee Mon, 11 Sep 2006
When putting a product on the market it is very important to consider the potential consumer. Currently on the market there are drinking flasks that look very much like cellular phones. The problem with this merchandise is that drinking flasks are in most cases used for liquor; which means that those in possession of a liquor flask should be of the legal drinking age. However, a drinking flask that looks identical to a cell phone would seem to appeal to the younger consumer. Imagine a 50 year old drinking out of a cell phone flask. That would be sort of awkward. Youngsters are more likely going to be attracted to a flask that looks like a cell phone. So, why market this product toward teens and pre-teens when they are not of the legal drinking age? This article is not intended to slander the maker of the product previously mentioned. Its purpose is to warn parents and educators about the product. In today’s generation, teens are finding new ways to sneak drug paraphernalia into their homes and schools. The last thing we need is another inconspicuous way for children to continue their bad habits.
Cell phones are allowed at some schools to help students contact their parents in case of an emergency. However, students are instructed to keep their cell phones powered-off and unseen during regular school hours. While every school has its own rules in regards to students carrying cell phones, it is safe to say that it would be easy for a student to get away with carrying a cell phone flask to class. We are fighting alcoholism and drug abuse among our youth. It is important that we all work together to help save our children from wasting away. Products like this are working against educators and parent’s efforts to keep the youth safe from drugs and alcohol. Manufacturing the traditional liquor flask is a safer alternative. Traditional flasks, which are often given as business gifts, have a unique design that is obvious for its intended purpose. In going along with the traditional design, it is easier for parents and educators to stay abreast of the new trends in the alcohol and drug industry. The less obvious a drinking flask appears, the easier it is for youngsters to hide it from their parents and teachers. Let’s not work against our children. Our goal should be to help them get through today, so that they can reach a brighter future for tomorrow. About the Author
