Members of Parliament have finally started to listen to parents and children, with the final realisation that the system of national curriculum testing in schools is having a detramental effect on our children. The fact that regulations had made sure that teaching was reduced down to reach parliaments test results (teaching to test is bandied as the term)and not to ensure that every child had the greatest benefit from useful education, it appears to have come as a surprise to them. People seem aghast that children are leaving school unprepared for University, college or Employment, it bizzarely seems like people havent been to school because it hasn’t changed that much in the last 20 years. One of the questions should perhaps be do you really believe that the colleges and universities are any different?

Members of Parliament arent throwing the baby out with the bathwater, though, saying that a reformed form of checking should be put into place where the responsibility of the educational establishment would be partitioned from the system of student testing (I don’t actually see how that is achievable as it will nearly always come back to how well the pupils are doing within the classroom, which almost instantly makes the school managers look for a way to allow their school to excel in the test). Don’t get me wrong schools need a form of monitoring but perhaps they should be looking to the algorythms of Google and how they give ranking to sites than a awkward administered process that is open to manipulation, at the expense of our children.
