Take Music Lessons In A Professional Music School

Submitted by James Franczek
Mon, 21 Dec 2009

As a music school director I often hear people ask if it's better to take lessons in your (or the teacher's) home? Or in a music school. I have always believed that taking music lessons. in a professional studio environment is the best place for a child to learn the fine craft of playing a musical instrument. Here are 3 reasons why.

1) No distractions - In a music lesson centre there are no distractions. At the teachers home or in your own home there can be things that take the student's attention away from the music lessons. It can be difficult to learn when there are dogs, or other pets around, siblings, and the general sounds around the house, like banging pot and pans at supper time or the TV.

2) Recitals - Private, In home teachers often hold their music recitals at their house which can be too small or awkward. Studios will usually have their recitals in a rented hall or church giving the student more of a real concert feel for their performance.

3) Motivation - Taking music lessons in a professional studio can be very encouraging when students hear other students in their lessons at different levels and on other instruments.

When you're trying to decide on a private teacher in their home or having someone come to the house or whether you should take music lessons in a professional music school please consider those 3 things before you make your decision. If these reasons are not enough to convince you to choose a music school. here are a few more.

4) Qualifications - Music lessons centers screen their teachers carefully to be sure that they are qualified and experienced.

5) There is usually an administrative staff available to help with any issues you may have.
