Use a Play Kitchen to Teach Your Child Important SkillsSubmitted by craigan Mon, 8 Jun 2009
Did you know that you can use a play kitchen to teach your child very important life skills? If you didn't, then you are about ready to find out. There are many toys out there that possess an educational value and a kitchen set is definitely one of them.
The types of skills that children learn include negotiation, problem solving, social skills, goal seeking, and joint planning. These are all skills that are necessary for children to learn at a young age so that they can take these skills with them throughout life. The younger these skills are developed, the better off the child is in life. Keep in mind that their little brains start developing the moment they are born. But let's touch on the social skills that a pretend kitchen can teach. Those skills include the very important social skills that are needed for a child to function in society. A child cannot function in any social environment in the proper way without the necessary social skills. For instance, your child can interact with you and other children when playing at their kitchen. But they can also exercise their social skills by pretending that they have dinner guests and talking to them and using their stuffed animals as dinner guests. The children use manners and such when they are doing this sort of role playing. Without such valuable toys as a play kitchen, children would be missing out a lot. And it is a misconception that only girls play with a kitchen set. The truth is that boys play with them as well and benefit equally. With moms and dads taking on each others roles in the home because they both work, it is important that boys learn that the kitchen is a place for them as well. So take all of this into consideration when deciding whether or not to buy your child a play kitchen. You will be quite surprised at how much fun your child will have taking on several different roles in their little kitchen. And you'll also have a lot of fun being a part of that and enhancing your child's social skills.
Having a play kitchen is a great way to help your child learn the skills that he or she needs to learn in able to function in society as adults. And the younger they start, the better they are.
