Pigeons and doves constitute the bird family Columbidae, which include some 300 species of near passerines. In general, dove and pigeon are almost the same. Their names are used interchangeably. And historically the common names for these birds involve a lot of variations. However, there is a tendency for dove to be used for smaller species and pigeon for larger ones. This family of bords occurs worldwide, but the greatest variety is in the Indomalaya and Australasia ecozones.

Pigeons and doves are stout-bodied birds with short necks, and have short slender bills with a fleshy cere. The species commonly referred to just as "pigeon" is the feral Rock Pigeon, common in many cities.

Doves and pigeons build flimsy nests from debris, which may be placed in trees, on ledges or on the ground, depending on species. They lay one or maybe two eggs, and both parents care for the young, which leave the nest after 7 to 28 days. Doves feed on seeds, fruit and plants. Unlike most other birds, the doves and pigeons produce milk, which is secreted by a sloughing of fluid-filled cells from the lining of the crop. Both sexes produce highly nutritious substance to feed to the baby.

Pigeons and doves are distributed everywhere, except for the driest areas of the Sahara Desert, Antarctica and its surrounding islands and the high Arctic. They have colonised most of the world's oceanic islands, reaching eastern Polynesia and the Chatham Islands in the Pacific, Mauritius, the Seychelles and R

--
Article Submission Software, drip articles to all top article sites on the schedule.
How to safely clean Kennels and Veterinarian Offices

In the society we live in our pets become an important part of our lives…they even become a member of our family. We are very concerned about their health, their living conditions, the food they eat and their personal comfort. If you own or operate a kennel or if you are a Veterinarian you are acutely aware of how your customers feel about their pets. When your customers leave their pet in your care they want them returned in good health, clean and free of fleas and parasites. After all, this is a member of the family.

As a Veterinarian or owner/operator of a kennel you understand how difficult it is to keep a clean, healthy environment at your place of business. You may have a cleaning routine that includes thoroughly cleaning you office or kennel with soap and water followed by disinfecting with chemical based cleaners. The problem with that routine is that soap and water alone does not clean and disinfect. While chemical based cleaners do disinfect most areas they come in contact with they do not always get into all the areas where germs and fleas hide. Carpeting and the cracks and crevices throughout your kennel or office are hiding places for germs and fleas that most often are missed by chemical based cleaner.

In addition, chemical based cleaners leave a residue on everything they come into contact with. The chemical residue can agitate the allergies of the people that work in or visit your place of business. More important, the chemical residue can be very harmful to the pets that come into your kennel or office. You may not see the effects of the chemical residue immediately, however, over time it will have a negative effect on our pets.

Is there a better way to clean your office or kennel? Try a vapor steam cleaner rather than using your old cleaning methods that include chemical based cleaners. Vapor steam cleaners are "pet friendly" as well as environmentally friendly. They clean more thoroughly in less time and with much less effort. Vapor steam cleaners also sanitize as they clean, killing fleas and their eggs, germs, bacteria, mold and mildew.

Vapor steam cleaners use nothing but water to clean and they are capable of cleaning almost any surface in your kennel or office. They even disinfect and sanitize carpeting, mattresses and upholstered furniture. A vapor steam cleaner creates a low moisture vapor that carries heat to the surface to be cleaned. The heat along with mild scrubbing cleans and disinfects the surface for you. Cleaning with a vapor steam cleaner eliminates chemical residues while sanitizing the surface you are cleaning. Because vapor steam cleaners use only small amounts of water to clean they are virtually free of mess as well as quiet and portable.

Vapor steam cleaners are hard on germs but gentle on the environment.

For more information on vapor steam cleaners please visit ProVaporSteamCleaners.com.

--
The author has worked with vapor steam cleaners for more than 10 years and has experienced the positive effects that cleaning and sanitizing your home or place of business with a vapor steam cleaner. More information about the numerous benefits of vapor steam cleaners can be found at
ProVaporSteamCleaners.com.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Congratulations on your new puppy or dog! Dogs are wonderful companions and huge amounts of fun. But they also require a lot of care, training, exercise and understanding. This article provides brief tips on getting started with your new pet.

Most puppies are VERY active and love to run, play, chew, and potty on the floor. These are normal behaviors for puppies, so be patient and focus on mitigating problems.

Household Safety
•	Keep all shoes and important items off the floor and away from areas where the puppy has access

•	Obtain a dog crate and pet gates
o	The dog crate should be appropriate for the size the dog will grow into. Comfortable bedding should be placed in the crate.
o Pet Gates are needed to section off areas of the house for when the puppy is unsupervised. In purchasing pet gates, again, consider the size your dog is expected to be full grown. Large breeds may need an Extra-Tall Pet Gate, while very small breeds may only require Step Over Pet Gates.

•	While you are away from home, the puppy should be in the crate (crate trained) or contained to a small area of the house with a bed and fresh water. Puppies tend to be insecure initially when they are left alone. Confining them to a small area not only helps them feel safer, but it prevents chewing and destruction of household items. It also helps to give the puppy a treat or toy before you leave. A great item to purchase is called a "kong." It is a hard rubber toy that you stuff peanut butter or treats inside and it takes a while for the dog to get the food or treat out. The kong is a great way to provide some entertainment for your dog while you are away.

Puppies require frequent trips outside. A suggestion is to keep your puppy in his/her crate and then immediately take her outside to potty and play. Let her play in the house for short periods with supervision and put her back in the crate to rest. Repeat this process frequently. By doing this the puppy begins to learn that she should potty outside and it minimizes indoor accidents. Do not "spank" or discipline your puppy for accidents in the house, instead frequently take her outside to go potty. Always take her to the same door so she begins to learn the process.

Puppies love to play and chew. Provide your puppy with chew toys, stuffed animals, large knots of rope, tennis balls and other toys. Keep a toy box for her specific toys. She will love to be walked at least twice a day (rain, snow or shine)!

Puppy Daycare. If you work full time and there will not be someone home during the day to let the puppy out to potty and play, consider Puppy Daycare. Puppy Daycare is very similar to Child Daycare, where you drop the puppy off at a home or facility where she plays and has supervised activities with other dogs. This is an excellent way to socialize your dog. She will learn proper dog etiquette from other dogs, gain more people social awareness and have a blast playing instead of sitting in a crate all day. One of the best things about Doggy Daycare is your dog will usually come home happy and tired, as opposed to bursting with energy and demanding your attention.

Two other extremely important actions in caring for your new puppy are Obedience Training and Spay/Neutering. All adult and older children should attend obedience training with the puppy and practice consistent language and actions with the puppy. Your Puppy needs to be spay/neutered. Discuss timing with your vet.

Most of all, Enjoy your new family member!

--
Sherry L.
Things you need to know about saltwater aquariums.

While saltwater environments often require more work and dedication than their freshwater counterparts, they provide a substantially different appeal. The key to success, as with any pet, is planning ahead. Before you jump into purchasing and filling your saltwater tank, you will need to do extensive research regarding the types of fish you plan on keeping as well as what type of habitat you hope to have. Here are some basics which need to be addressed for a saltwater tank:

-Saltwater habitats:
Saltwater tanks can be found in three basic varieties: Fish only, Fish only with live rock, and reef setups. While fish only environments are the most economic option, there are some clear advantages to incorporating live rock into your tank—namely that they provide a natural filter
to the habitat and they are more aesthetically pleasing without upgrading to a full-scale reef environment. If you have the time, money, and dedication for a reef tank setup, it will pay off in the long run. Reef habitats can house many more species and provide a more engaging tank.

Also, starting small or simply may seem like a good option, but after the setup required for any size tank you may soon wish you had started with at least a 35 gallon tank. It is also worth noting that smaller tanks require more frequent tests to maintain appropriate chemical levels in the water and are more susceptible to rapid change.

-Equipment:
Purchasing the right equipment to begin with will save money on replacing fish in the long run. Some pieces of equipment that should accompany your saltwater tank include a heater, protein skimmer, thermometer, and test kits. More complete lists can be found easily and depend on the specifics of your desired tank setup.

-Quarantine Tank:
Quarantine tanks make the transition much easier on your saltwater fish and will prevent the spread of disease to others in your aquarium. It is highly recommended that all fish, under all circumstances, be quarantined before introducing them to your tank. This is not a lengthy process, nor does it require an elaborate setup, but it is in the best interest of your fish and ultimately you wallet.

-Other Tank Accessories:
While all the above items are essential to bear in mind for the success of your saltwater tank, there are a few more things to keep in mind.

A background should be painted or taped to the back of the tank. Painting (always on the outside of the tank) is generally a better option since it won't be damaged by spilled or leaking saltwater. Also, in addition to live rock, sand should be added to the tank. However, you should only use sand designed for aquarium use so that you know it won't be harmful to your fish. Invertebrates, such as sea urchins, starfish, and coral also add depth and color to your saltwater tank and can contribute to the ecosystem. Lastly, aquarium plants can help keep the tank clean, attractive, and more interesting for your fish.

--
Willy Sanchez is a dedicated entrepreneur who like to get to know the world, through traveling reading books and researching the internet.
Visit my aquarium guideFishgallon.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

So you gave yourself the gift of a new puppy or some other person gave it to you. Sadly, this small animal doesn't understand the particular places elected for going to the toilet. So what do you do? How does one housebreak a new puppy? Housebreaking actually isn't all that troublesome. As with all dog coaching it'll take consistency and patience but the toughest part will really be coaching you and the rest of your family.

Before you start any coaching, you'll want to be sure your pet is healthy. There's nothing worse then repeatedly disciplining your puppy for peeing in the house and then finding out they've got a kidney or bladder infection. The key to housebreaking your dog is close supervision. You want to catch your pet right before or in the act of their mistake so you can right away say, ah ah and take them outside or on to their paper.

Employing a crate can actually speed up the entire process because it makes it far simpler for you and your family to know when your little puppy will have to go to the toilet. General, but this can vary with each puppy, about 30 mins after eating your young dog will have to go outside. I suggest feeding your little puppy at the same time each day then put them within their crate for the 30 minutes and then take them outside. Walk around for a bit, if they have not gone after one or two minutes take them back inside and put them in their crate, repeat till they're going on schedule.

Having treats and heaps of praise prepared for when then do go will also speed up the method of your puppy's learning. Always reward your puppy when they do well.

Other times your puppy will likely need to go is shortly after awakening and after excited play. Another thing to bear in mind is how long puppies can really hold their bladder: Two months old, about three hours, four months old, about four hours, five months old - six hours and six months old - seven hours or so.

If you're employed at a 9-5 job and you're planning on leaving your little dog at home by itself all day it might not be reasonable to expect your little puppy to be housebroken until at least six months old. When your pet starts to go to the toilet outside you wish to have a word that you'll say. This way your dog will start to associate your command with the act of going to the toilet. Finally your dog will be ready to go on command, this will come in truly handy in winter when it's cold and you need your pet to speed up a bit.

Hurry up is the command I have selected to use with my dogs. I suspect it sounds better then Go potty or toilet, but it is your command so you selected what ever word you may feel most comfortable with.

Housebreaking your pet shouldn't take long, if you're finding that your pet is continually having accidents and it's driving you crazy, ask yourself two questions. One, could my puppy have a health problem? Two, have I actually been consistent in watching my puppy and catching him before he has an accident. If you have not been consistent you cannot really expect you dog to be. It's time intensive initially because you actually need to focus on what your dog is doing when he is about to have an accident.

Just be patient with your puppy and give him lots of love and attention and he'll eventually learn to go at the proper time and in the proper place. You can have lot's of fun training a new puppy if you want to.

--
Brad Bahr has owned many dogs over the years and is interested in dog training.
With advances of the technological revolution have come virtual pets. It is not limited to those that you see on Facinity and other social network pages either. There are programs that allow you to create your own virtual aquarium on your computer. For some it is a relaxing pass-time; for others it is a venture into responsibility; and for still others it is an opportunity to explore the world of computer programming and artificial intelligence from a user' point of view.

Regardless of what your interest is you will find that a virtual aquarium can be had in a number of varieties. Each one is slightly or drastically different than the others. The first and most noticeable difference for some users are the difference between the backgrounds. Each virtual aquarium will likely have a slightly different background. Some may present, more or less, cartoon like settings and other may use actual pictures of underwater scenes. Which virtual aquarium you choose is your choice and one may not present any benefit over another. The next difference is the appearance of the fish. Again their appearance may range from cartoon-like to quite realistic. They are often all of colorful varieties and with recognizable shapes.

Where the differences begin to be more subtle to some users of a virtual aquarium is in regard to the behavior of the fish. In some instances you may find that the fish are prone to very repetitive actions. This may not necessarily be the result of poor quality programming. Some fish are simply rather repetitive. By watching a number of different species of fish in as many different circumstances as your virtual aquarium allows you can begin to understand the detail of the programming that controls the fish. In some cases you may find that it is rather repetitive code that does not create what you consider to be realistic action. Others may genuinely amuse and draw you in.

The format of the virtual aquarium will determine much of how you interact with the fish in the virtual aquarium. Some are designed simply to be screensavers that do not allow any interaction and only display fish that move about and interact with each other in varying degrees of life-like qualities. In some cases your virtual aquarium may be a standalone program that you can choose to run. These often allow you to interact with the fish through feeding and other actions. These are not necessarily of the screen saver variety. There are some virtual aquarium programs that combine both of these elements. Allowing you to create your own aquarium and choose the fish. Then you are able to interact with the fish via interactions like feeding, etc. Then if you prefer the aquarium is displayed as the screensaver.

--
For more information on virtual aquarium, please visit Facinity.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

So, you're interested in boxer dog training. Of course you are. You love your boxer dog and want to help him to be the best he can be. If so, then it is very important that he receives the necessary training he needs. Unlike other dogs, boxers are not a high maintenance breed. Boxers are quite lively and very vigorous dogs. If you want him to behave, you have to make sure he gets enough exercise. As far as training goes, a positive enforcement method such as treat training can work well with your boxer dog.

The Boxer by nature is not an aggressive or vicious breed, but, like all dogs, requires socialization with people and other dogs. Boxers are generally patient with smaller dogs and puppies, but issues with larger adult dogs, especially those of the same sex, may occur. Boxers are usually more comfortable with companionship, in either human or canine form. This breed if dog is extremely loyal. Boxers are genuinely a lovable family dog and make a great pet for anyone.

Boxers are calm dogs that will usually not bark without cause. They are of a medium-build and strong breed of dog that got its name from its habit of standing on the hind legs to begin a fight and boxing with the front paws.

Boxers are an energetic, smart and playful breed and tend to be very good with children. They are active dogs and require plenty of exercise to prevent boredom-associated behaviors such as chewing or digging. Boxers have earned a slight reputation of being "headstrong," which can be related to inappropriate obedience training. Owing to their intelligence and working breed characteristics, training based on corrections often has limited usefulness. Boxers, like other animals, typically respond better to positive reinforcement techniques such as clicker training, an approach based on conditioning and behaviorism, which affords the dog an opportunity to think independently and to solve problems on his own.

Boxer dogs are working dogs. Throughout history it has been trained as seeing-eye dogs, police dogs, seeing-eye dogs, hunting dogs, and guard dogs. Training you boxer dog is the best thing you can do for him. Boxers love to have a job to do. They are the happiest when they are working and doing something important for you. From as early as 5 weeks old you should start your boxer dog training as this will help him when he grows up.

Because of their intelligence, Boxers can be very stubborn but when it comes to training. How do you train your boxer dog? Rather than try to just make up some kind of training on your own, I recommend that you get a training course written by a professional dog trainer. Also a DVD or video is of great help. Most people learn better by watching than just reading.

Boxer dog training is also a lot of fun and a great way to spend quality time with your dog. Train your boxer dog and he will love you for it.

--
Brad Bahr is a dog lover and has owned many dogs over the years. A well trained dog can be a companion that you will never forget in your life. Moreover, a well trained dog is like a status symbol and says a lot about the owner of the dog.

This is where dog training comes in. It does not matter what breed of dog you have and if you have any experience in dog training. Every master can train his dog. Over the years, I have seen several trainers and books on training. But all of them seemed to have some thing or the other missing. Some laid no emphasis on safety, some guides were just meant for the experienced trainer and some just didn't deliver at all. In fact the animal enjoys the process and in fact wants to be trained.

Food and diet has a direct bearing on the animal's life. In this situation, there needs to be no compromise on diet. But did you ever stop and think if just buying the most expensive dog food brand out there solves the problem? Is it wise to blindly believe advertisements and dog food companies?
Tips on Removing Dog Tear Stains

Dog tear stains often occur with small dogs and can be a pain to deal with. Different species of dogs suffer from variety of similar problems which are mainly caused due to the overflow of tears into the cheeks which affects, white and other light color dogs the most. Tear accrual on facial hairs can often lead to clumping of the hair, skin annoyance and perhaps bug infections. Hair actually acts like a protective shield of the eye by stopping the inflow of tears. These hairs needs proper care can be made possible by keeping the area hygienic and removing accumulated material or sludge. If a skin abrasion or any type of eye contagion or trouble is suspected, it is advisable to visit a veterinarian doctor with your pet.

You need to take care to eradicate any bacterial or yeast infectivity. The most common is red yeast, related with reddish-brown facial stains and probably sensible to strong aroma, as bacteria on hair and skin react with the clear tears. There are many dog tear stain remover products available but many are formulated differently.

Many researchers consider the individual structure around the eye area plays an important role in stain problems. If so, then genetics may be the source of the problem. Miniature breeds often have more prominent eyes that stretch the eyelid and can cut off the drainage system. There is little that can be done to correct this. Sometimes the eyelids turn inward and block the drainage; this is surgically correctable. However, if you think surgery is too severe and the problem isn't that bad, try alternative methods that are less callous.

Different products have been considered effective in various ways to solve the problem of stains, but the natural ingredient tylosin is very effective in this aspect. A dog tear stain remover needs to be effective and delicate which can handle the problems without any side effects. Determining the source of tear and face stains is very important. The issue of dog tear stains is more than an appearance problem. Dog tear stains can be traced to health and diet, as well as genetics. Make sure there are no underlying health problems causing the excessive tearing and staining.

In some cases there are dyes in the food, which can actually aggravate the tear staining more. One solution is to actually prepare the food yourself using only natural ingredients, with dog tear stain remover and allow them only to drink bottled water. It is preferable to use the special all natural powder and mix it in with your dog's food or water and within about 2 weeks the draining from the eyes stops and the problem begins to resolve itself. Our Maltese had terrible tear stains and in about 2 weeks they were gone. Best of all this solution is all natural.

We hope this article was informative.
If you are reading this article, you may be at the end of your rope when it comes to pleasing the well defined palate of your cat. We all want the best for our feline, but the matter of keeping their tastes within your budget is very important. In addition, we want to make sure that what we feed them is going to benefit them in the long run and lessen their chances of suffering from a costly illness or disease.

The digestion system of cats is very different from that of dogs. The point is, cats were meant to get a large amount of their protein directly from meat based products and they can only digest and receive nutrition from certain kinds of food. Therefore, when you feed your cat something that is grain or vegetable based, they are not receiving the proper nutrition that they need in order to function correctly.

Dehydrated cat food has 60% human grade chicken products and when hydrated provides your cat with the necessary liquid and nutrition that will balance their sensitive digestion and urinary systems. You will see an immediate change in your cat as studies show that felines who are finicky when it comes to mealtime show a renewed excitement over what they are eating.

In addition, you will see an overall physical change in the appearance of your cat. Dehydrated cat food helps provide a sleek coat and healthy skin as well as increased energy levels in your pet. In addition, cats who are fed dehydrated cat food are less likely to suffer from weight issues or diseases that come with age, such as joint or muscle problems, diabetes and even cancer!

--
Thomas Kearl lives with his wife and 3 dogs in Escondido, CA.
