Most of us, if we thought about it decide on a pet based on emotions and not thinking about the work involved just with crate training a dog.

It may have been the idea of playing catch and teaching a dog new tricks that had you excited. Whatever the reason, crate training probably didn't figure into the commitment but it was more about all the positive things having a pet can bring. Keep in mind that if you really want a companion animal, you need to train them so they know where to go to the bathroom

One of the first things an owner needs to do when getting a new puppy is to consider crate training a dog. That is, if they want to have their pet be an actual companion and enjoy the comfort of having a good friend spend time with them in the house. Some people think that simply by confining your pet, you are being somehow heartless and callous.

Kenneling is not the same as putting them in a cage for storage and neither is considered crate training. Make no mistake, many of these same people who complain about how terrible it is to use a cage for confinement are the same folks that will be begging for help with their puppies bad habits when he's a few months older.

Don't make the mistake of leaving house training for later. Potty accidents and bad habits developed by your puppy can increase the difficulty in having success with crate training a dog later. The idea is to eliminate the possibility of your pet having an accident in your home. Accidents cause smells and while they aren't the end of the world to clean up, they ARE very tempting to your dog when you want them to learn where to go to the bathroom,

For More Information on this amazing method to quickly and easily house train your dog, visit the links below.

Dogs find a spot, squat or mark territory in only a few seconds. It only takes these few seconds to have the accident, create the smells and your dog could be attracted back to this same location if you don't completely clean up the problem. Urinating in your home is caused by a lack of adequate potty training and not due to some crazy idea that the animal is just being obstinate. Although adult male dogs will sometimes mark territory inside the home, even this is rare after consistent crate training.

So start crate training a dog off right regardless of your dogs age. Get your pet accustomed to being in the crate whenever they're in the house but not being watched. This attention can be signaled by the use of a lightweight leash. Your pet will learn that she is either on the leash or outside. Adding leash time actually can make it easier to teach other behaviors later.

The most important thing to remember is that all canines are naturally pack animals. Someone must be the leader and the rest submit to that leadership. You want to be certain that YOU are firmly established as the leader of the pack no matter how headstrong or difficult your pup may become. There's no room for more than one leader and that should always be you in your mind and your pets.

Once you get your dog in the habit of going directly to his crate when in the house, you're beginning to gain control of the situation and well on your way to successfully housebreaking your puppy. The idea of crate training a dog is always an exercise in teaching good manners.

Teaching your puppy should be more than tricks. It's a way to allow them the opportunity to learn new behaviors that are pleasing to you. Teaching new behaviors is so much easier than trying to correct bad habits so take the time to learn how to do it right.
