There are different animals in the world that we are able to adore and observe. But sometimes we do not acknowledge a few of the most simpler species. One animal that we see rather frequently - but do now know much about is the squirrel.

Squirrels are part of the Sciuridae family - also known as the rodent family. It is difficult to believe that something as cute as this is affiliated to rats and mice. There are several different types of squirrels that include the gray, tree, and flying squirrels. Though they are referred to as flying squirrels this type are only able to coast when jumping from one place to another.

These animals cannot tolerate cellulose that is in certain foods. Because of this they need to eat up foods that have large quantities of fat, protein, and carbs. During the spring time many of the nuts that the squirrel buried are starting to shoot making them untouchable for them to eat. When this happens they have to acquire the buds of trees to feed themselves.

During other months they can eat nuts, fruits, fungi, seeds, green vegetation, and conifer cones. It is viable to discover some species of squirrels that will eat insects, small birds, eggs, snakes, and other rodents. However, they commonly only do this when they are starving.

Numerous individuals are able to observe squirrels scurrying around their neighborhoods looking for food and climbing up and down trees. They can be friendly when you try to offer them food and can frequently be seen trying to take food from bird feeders.
