It is interesting that many rabbit owners are not aware that pet rabbits can be litter box trained.
The first and most important key to successfully training your rabbit to use the litter box is to respect your pet rabbit’s cage. It is therefore important to respect your rabbits when he is in his cage such as not forcing him out of his cage when he does not want to. Instead, you should gently coax him.

There are cages with pull-out tray and wire floor, and if you are using this then they may not be any necessity to place a litter box in the cage. You will then have more space within the cage. Most of the time, your rabbit will use one corner of the cage to do his toilet.

To train your rabbit to use the little box in a rabbit hutch, you need to put some of their poo in the litter box. You may want to line up some litter and hay in the litter box.

Cultivate your rabbit to use the litter box by positioning him on the litter box every morning. You can make him feel comfortable by holding a piece of carrot for him to nib on while he is using the litter box.

Rabbits are habitual creatures. Once you are able to establish their routine, it is easier to train them to use the litter box. Find out more on what is the usual time they will do their toilet.

Your rabbit may not necessary like to have the litter box inside the cage. If that is the case, you may want to train him to use the litter box out of the cage.

If your rabbits always love to poo and wee at a certain corner of your living room, put a litter box there. Line the litter box with some newspaper and litter. Most rabbits prefer to stand on some wire floor over the litter box.

Being curious creatures, rabbits will immediately check on the litter box when you place them. Turn them to face you when they hop on the litter box. Allow them personal time to use the litter box.

Do not force your rabbit to use the litter box if they do not like it. Try to establish a routine for them to use the litter box, such as immediately when you let them out of the cage. Place them on the litter box at regular intervals. The method spelled out here is the
simplest method to litter-box train your rabbit
