There is a lot that you need to know about dog obedience training. Of course, there are plenty of resources that make learning simple. As you learn more about the process you will find things easier on you. Along with this, your dog will also have a simpler time picking up on things when you, the trainer, know what you are doing.

Here are three things you need to know about dog obedience training:

1. It is going to be rough at times. You cannot expect training a dog to be a quick and simple process. It would be nice if this was the case, but it hardly ever works out like this. It is important to be patient with your dog.

2. Some things are more important than others. For instance, it should be top priority to housetrain your dog. It is better to do this first and then save the tricks for later.

3. Puppies make mistakes. Just when you think you have your dog trained it will squat and make a mess on your floor - this is to be expected. You have to stick with the process, day after day, until your dog is 100 percent trained. This goes along with expecting the worse and being patient.

These are three details that come into play when training any dog. Although dog obedience training can be difficult, it is also something that is a lot of fun if you let it be that way. Enjoy the time you have training your dog; it is only a puppy once!

One of the most enjoyable feelings you can have is when you take that out of control puppy or older dog and turn them into a respectful, calm, well behaved dog.
