Why Pregnancy and Cat Litter Don’t Mix

Submitted by internetworld7

If you are pregnant then you need to know that you definitely need to stay away from cat litter, and there are many reasons why. Pregnancy and cat litter are definitely two things that simply do not mix, and so if you want to be as safe as you can for both you and your child, then you are going to want to make sure that you realize that pregnancy and cat litter is a dangerous mix and that thus you need to stay away from it, whether you are already pregnant or whether you are planning on getting pregnant.

Why Don’t Pregnancy and Cat Litter Mix?

There are many reasons as to why pregnancy and cat litter don’t mix, but the main reason is because of toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis is something that can cause birth defects in children, and this is clearly the most major reason as to why pregnancy and cat litter don’t mix; however you should know that if you are pregnant this does not mean that you necessarily have to get rid of your cat, you just have to take certain precautions.

For instance, try to get someone else to change the cat litter for you when you need it done, because the fumes from it are what are most likely to cause the birth defects in the baby. As well, you will want to make sure that the cat litter box is nowhere near to where you will be sitting most of the time, so if you have a basement for instance then you are going to want to keep it in there if you can.

Just remember that you certainly do not have to get rid of your cat if you are pregnant, you just want to take certain steps so that you keep yourself and your unborn child as healthy as possible. As well you will want to speak to your doctor about this so that you can get some further information, so that you can make yourself as informed and as knowledgeable as possible.

Making yourself aware of as much as you can, especially when you are pregnant, is really important, and so you want to make sure that you do this. You can also do some research on your own, because sometimes if you read stuff yourself you understand it better and so this is really the best idea of all.
