Congratulations! You just found out that a new baby is on the way. The excitement is through the roof and, after several phone calls to family and friends, you finally have time to sit down and take it all in. Suddenly you realize - especially when it is a first born - that a lot of arrangements have to be made. A room needs to be prepared, accessories and care items bought, and the baby will need toys and clothing. That is a lot of responsibility, but with a little assistance and good advice the happy parents will accomplish their goal in no time.

Babies require a lot of baby clothes and finding the right tees and jumpsuits is not always easy, even with all the extensive collections at baby stores and specialized online sites. Making a choice is not as simple as it sounds for various valid reasons.

1. Despite modern technology, nobody knows exactly how small or big a baby will be at birth, or how fast he or she will grow afterwards.

2. Budgets vary and not everyone has unlimited funds. For some parents money may be tight and keeping an eye out for clothing sales and discounts before the baby is born may help tremendously. With the saved money, either more or better quality items can be bought.

3. Many infants complain when getting dressed. They will fuzz when pullovers have to go over their head, while some baby girls just do not like wearing a dress and keep trying to take it off.

4. Not only the child may oppose against certain clothing pieces, but mums and dads can too. Try to pick clothing that is easy to remove. Snaps between the legs will be a time saver when the baby needs a diaper change and tops that open in the front or back will be more easy to put on or remove than those pulled over the head.

5. Cheaper clothing materials may trigger an allergic reaction, and even if that does not happen, some babies do not like how zippers or buttons feel on their bare skin. In that case, an undershirt or singlet may prevent irritation.

6. The materials used for the fabrication of socks, T-Shirts, jackets, or any other piece of clothing for that matter, have to be taken into consideration. Wool sweaters need to be hand-washed and come with specific drying instructions. Certain dresses and shirts need to be ironed to look presentable. That all takes time, which sleep-deprived mums usually don't have.

7. Environmentally involved parents may have their mind set on organic materials for their offspring's garments.

8. Personal style is more important than anyone can imagine. Parents with a high fashion sense will prefer to dress their child the same way. They may need to visit boutiques rather than the local department stores.

9. Themed clothing is also quite trendy. If there is a ladybug, car, music, giraffe, Mickey Mouse or princess lover in the family, guess what appliqué will likely be found on cuddle wraps, cardigans, leggings or overalls?

With all the above mentioned information at hand, you can now sit down and decide which clothes characteristics are most important to you. Will your baby be wearing, pink, blue, white or green, or are you keen on warm, soft and durable activities sets in red or yellow? Who knows?! You may even decide on pajamas in Dora the explorer, Elmo, or Barney the dinosaur, print. Everything is possible!
