When should you get a new bed?

Submitted by kinal

Contrary to belief, beds don't last forever.

Normally, it is seen that even if the bed has outlived its time and start sagging, we seldom change them. When beds are no longer providing proper support and comfort, it affects the quality of our sleep. People are often unaware that their beds may be one of the reasons why they are not sleeping well. Usually we tend to blame stress and other factors for the loss of good sleep.

Look for the below signs as a reminder to get a new mattress:

• You wake up with aches and pains, which wear off as the day progresses
• You are not sleeping well as you did a year ago
• You enjoy a better sleep on other beds rather than your own
• Your mattress shows signs of wear and tear
• Also, when a mattress starts to sag in the middle, or a permanent impression of your body is left in the mattress, or it starts to sag to one partner's side, it's time to look for a new one.
• It's also time to look for a new mattress if the edges of your mattress are no longer providing support.

According to experts, most of the mattresses last for as long as 10 years. However, depending on the quality of the mattress, and how you treat the mattress, the life-span may vary.

Now, when you finally decide to buy beds, do not expect to find a magical cure to all your stress related problems. However, be assured that you will indeed be getting a great sleep.

Though there is not a thing as perfect beds that can help you cope up with all your conditions, you can choose from a range of beds according to your convenience and comfort. With the easy access of Internet, it's always best to do some basic research before buying a bed.

Adjustable beds are the most popular owing to their health benefits and their easy adjustable positions. You can adjust the slant angle of your upper body and legs which can relieve you from back and body aches. Similarly, any bed with a Memory foam mattress works wonders. Memory foam mattress has a unique property of conforming to body shape and temperature. Thus it avoids pressure points and provides a more relaxed sleep.

Just remember that when you are spending almost one third of your life sleeping, it is really advisable to choose your bed wisely.
