You have created a new website with information targeting your niche target segments. You have filled your site with rich, original and quality content. But no one knows about it... Obviously, the next and very important step in your online niche marketing activities is to drive traffic to the site.

I have outlined the basic yet critical traffic generation strategies below. These are strategies that apply for both new and existing websites employed by most webmasters.

Traffic Generation Strategies and Tactics outlined below should start you off well.

Article Writing. An approach as old as Internet itself, this strategy is still proven effective for driving traffic to websites. Write articles targeting your niche markets and submit them to article directories. The way to get backlinks for your niche site is to include your anchor text or hyperlinks in your bio and let others publish your articles.

Generate Buzz. Submit Press Release To PR Sites. Research Online Press Release Sites and Directories where most would require a fee. Provide press releases featuring your niche website launch and expound upon its unique selling points.

Leverage on Social Bookmarking. The explosive effects of Social Bookmarking cannot be ignored. You need to generate exposure for your new website via leveraging on the major social bookmarking to get traffic. Examples are Technorati, Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon to name a few.

Niche Forums Participation. It is important to brand yourself in conjunction with your niche website. Research for forums targeting your niche segments and participate actively. Include your signature with your website link, if allowed.

Link Building to Extend Your Reach. The reasons to link up with other sites are obvious enough. You stand to benefit from the traffic flow from the linked sites, especially when they are authority sites. Linking up with Complementary sites are more mutually beneficial and this approach also dilutes less of your traffic. You may check out the Site Directories for submission purposes. Most require a fee.
