3 Tips To Be Your Own Affiliate Manager

Submitted by Anna Poelo
Tue, 14 Sep 2010

In learning how to be your own affiliate manager, Garrett Robins has given us his three simple tips on how to be successful in becoming an successful affiliate manager like him. Garrett Robins is the Affiliate Manager for SublimeNet Inc. and he has been studying sales and affiliate marketing for more than seven years. Now he is going to share with us the three things he has learned in becoming successful in the field of affiliate marketing and management.

1. Research, Recruit, and Train

The first order in the business is to effectively and efficiently use whatever resources you can get your hands on. You do not have to do everything on your own. If you can get a sales manager competent enough to get the job done, then by all means hire that person and make use of him or her. If you can find someone who is good at keeping good business relationships, then make use of his or her talent. You should not have to do these kinds of work if you can help it. Why even try to do these on your own if you can recruit and train other people to do it for you?

2. Pay Per Performance

So you have found your affiliates and online salesmen, trained them on how to sell your products best, and left them to do their jobs. You might be thinking that you cannot afford to pay out commissions to them. In truth, you really cannot afford not to! One of the main reasons for this is to give your salespeople some motivation in keeping up with selling your products for you. Besides, it is only when a product is sold that you will have to give out the commission. You finances would certainly be better invested through this strategy.

3. Researching Your Affiliates

In researching for potential affiliates, it is important to use the proper tools in searching online. There are three tools in particular that have been helpful to many successful affiliate managers. The Alexa and Google toolbars have provided online entrepreneurs with the information they needed to operate and manage potential affiliates --- site owners, contact information like email addresses and phone numbers, other sites related to the website, page rank, and many more that are relevant to affiliate marketing.

Another useful tool is the program known as SEO Elite. You should know that this software is not for free, unlike the Alexa and Google toolbars. You will need to spend some money to get this program, but it will be worth it since it will cut away wasted time in your research. SEO Elite will pull up hundreds of sites and their information, and will allow you to export the list to an Excel file if you want. Then you can browse over the list you have and look for your potential affiliates there.

These are just three tips from many more on how to be your own affiliate manager. There are so many more thing you can learn about how to go about the business efficiently and effectively. Successful affiliate mangers of today certainly did not have it easy in the past, and have had to study and struggle through rough patches as they made their way up.

Garrett Robins is the affiliate manager for SublimeNet Inc., and is experienced in the ups and downs of affiliate marketing. He also works for DotComSecrets, and can be found in Facebook and LinkedIn. Along with Russel Brunson and BJ Wright, he has been very successful in his ventures in the Internet.
