Affiliate Programs and Marketing tops other Internet Marketing somewhat, because affiliates use regular advertising methods. These methods include organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO), paid Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Email Marketing, and Display Advertising. Nevertheless, affiliates still use less orthodox techniques, such as Publishing Reviews of products or services. Affiliate marketing uses one website to drive traffic to another website. It is a form of online marketing. Search engines, e-mail, and website syndication captivates a lot of the attention of online retailers; affiliate marketingdoesn't capture as much attention. Affiliates still continue to have a significant role in e-traiilers and marketing strategies anyway.

Affiliate websites are categorized by merchants and affiliate networks. The types of websites that follow are generic, but are often used by affiliate marketers:

1) Search affiliates that utilize Pay Per Click (PPC) search engines for advertiser promotions

2) Comparison shopping between websites and directories

3) Loyalty websites that provide reward system for purchases by way of points back

4) CRM websites that offer charitable donations

5) Coupon and rebate websites, focusing on sales promotions

6) Content and niche market websites

7) Personal websites

8) Weblogs and website syndiation feeds

9) Email list affiliates and newsletter list affiliates

10) Registration path or co-registration affiliates

11) Shopping Directories that list merchants by categories without providing coupons, price comparisons or other features based on information that changes regularly

12) Cost per action networks, exposing offers from the advertiser that they are affiliated to via their own network of affiliates

13) Websites using adbars that displays context-sensitive and highly-relevant advetisements for products on the website

Affiliate networks that have several advertisers usually have a large pool of publishers also. These publishers could be recruited, potentialy; there is an increased possibility that publishers wthin the network will apply to the program on their own. Relevant websites that attract the same target audiences as the advertiser are potential affiliate partners too. Vendors or existing customers can also become recruits as long as it does not violate any laws or regulations. Just about all websites can be recruited as an affiliate publisher. High-traffic websites are likely to be more interested in low-risk cost per mille or medium-risk cost per click deals over higher-risk cost per action or revenue share deals.

There are three primary ways to locate affiliate programs for a target website:

1) Affiliate program directories.

2) Large affiliate networks that provide the platform many advertisers, and

3) The target website itself.

If the locations above do not provide information related to affiliates, then it may be because there exists a non-public affiliate program. The most definitive method for finding this information is to contact the website owner.
