In this Age of Information, millions of people are looking for ways to make money online. Some have heard or have read success stories from others who have done it and they, too, want a piece of the pie. Others are looking for a way…any way…to make a living from home. Some of these people are mothers with small children at home. Some are college students who need a few extra bucks without having to resort to putting in an application at McDonald's. Some are individuals who simply want to have freedom to choose what they are going to do and when, without a boss dictating to them what must be done.

People want their time back. They want to enjoy what they have while they are still young and healthy enough to enjoy it. So how do millions of people create an income on the internet? They are affiliate marketers! Affiliates advertise and market the products of other people or businesses. For this effort, they are handsomely rewarded; some affiliate marketing plans set forth by the product owners pay out up to 75% of the price the customer pays!!

How does one find a product to be an affiliate for? There are many directories online which list programs that people can sign up to be an affiliate for. Many of the big names, such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble offer affiliate programs. Clickbank is one of the biggest and most well known sites to find products to market. (Clickbank's products are predominantly digital in nature; they are not physical products, for the most part) There are many others; conducting a search should show many companies that offer affiliate programs.
It is important to realize the distinction between Affiliate Marketing and Network Marketing. In Network Marketing, people are paid not only when others buy the product they are selling, but also when other people sign up to be marketers by using their links and websites. Network Marketing, while still a viable option, has gotten a huge "black eye" because of all the false promises and outright scams that have been circling the Internet for years. Most people are like me; they prefer to have nothing whatsoever to do with Network Marketing. Maybe they or someone they know has been scammed before. Affiliate marketing is simple and straightforward: when a customer buys a product using the affiliate marketer's link, the affiliate is paid the promised commission. Nothing more, nothing less.

In order to make money on the internet, one must sell a product to another person. Being an online Affiliate Marketer is by far the simplest way to start making money right away and can create income for years to come.
