Cable packages - how are they planned?

If you are a user of a cable based service then you will wonder how the cable companies plan the packages for their consumers. You will want to know why a package costs a certain amount of money and includes certain types and levels of service.

In the old days doing the pricing of a service was simpler. It was based on the cost incurred by the company and a survey of how much people would be willing to pay. Using that information a pricing was arrived at. If people were willing to pay much more than the cost and the prices were kept high sooner or later a competitor would emerge who would sell the service cheaper. That was the market driven pricing of the past.

Nowadays however things are much more complex. The cost incurred by the company is not fixed and varies with region, sales levels, costs of consumables and for many other reasons. Therefore it is no longer possible to base the pricing entirely on the cost incurred.

The use of marketing surveys and historical data now contribute a lot towards design of cable packages. And the price of the service is just one part of the cable packages. To attract customers the companies often have features in the cable package that offer an extra benefit to the customer and act as a deal clincher.

The packages also vary with the geographic area because the costing for various geographies varies. Also if a company wants to gain a foothold in an area where it has a weak performance it may give attractive cable packages to that area.

As you can see the cable companies put a lot of thought into designing cable packages. They do it with the aim that they give you the best possible deal so that they get the most number of customers and therefore are able to maximize their profits.

For you as the consumer it is important to empower yourself with knowledge about the options and choose the one that gives you the best deal. It is much easier to do this online where cable packages can be compared quickly. You can find the best cable packages at www.bestcabledeals.org.
