Can a Successful Business Start from Nothing?

I'm sure you've seen it...If you've spent any amount of time on the Internet you know what I'm talking about...The ads are EVERYWHERE. You know the ones: “Start today, be in profit tomorrow!” Or, “Follow our system and watch the cash roll in.” Or my personal favorite (if only it were true!): “No experience needed, just sign up and be a millionaire by tomorrow!”

Ok, maybe I went a little overboard on that last one, but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at: Most people new to business and especially Internet Marketing are very easily swept up into the no work, get paid hype that the above ads show.

Yes you can make a (mostly) automated business, where you make money on autopilot, but it still takes WORK and a lot of LEARNING. Yes, all of the so-called “guru” spent the time to develop a whole variety of skills to get where they are. But the good news is, they are no different that you or I. And guess what? If they can do it SO CAN YOU.

But where to start? This is where most people get confused. They do some research and see the skills they need and become overwhelmed. This need not happen. The key is to take stock of yourself and understand what strengths and skills you already posses.

For instance, let's say you are the one that writes the newsletter for your child's Little League team. You have a strength in writing. Let's also say that you've been golfing for years and are quite skilled at showing new people how to start off fast.

Here we can see that you've actually got three skills: writing, teaching and golfing. You could very easily write down your thoughts and put them into an ebook. Or you could do a video. From there you can see that you've got the beginnings of what could be a successful business.
