How to Be a Twitter LoserSubmitted by twitterstrategy Fri, 19 Jun 2009
Twitter is RED HOT! Are you ready to join the Twitter army? Are you ready to be a...
Twitter loser? What follows is an easy, simple 5 step program that guarantees you will be Twitter loser. 1. Always be selling. Posting useful information or links is for saps. Post nothing but advertisements. How will your followers know what you are selling otherwise? 2. Repeat the same message over and over. You know, through your years of marketing research, that it takes repeated exposure to your marketing message to get through. So the logical extension there as it applies to your Twitter account is just to say the same thing many times. Now you're thinking like a businessman. 3. Strive to follow more than 1 million people. You need to have as many followers as you possibly can. Follow others and they will follow you back. 4. Forget about reading others' tweets. You'd be doing nothing but reading all day! Other people will definitely read your posts to learn about what you are selling. 5. Avoid any kind of keyword research. Too much headache. You know better than anyone what sort of keywords Twitter users might use to search for you. You should realize that everything above is a joke. You don't want to be a Twitter loser. The above list is a good guide if you do the opposite. You will be much better served to use your Twitter account to provide genuine information, rather than just sales messages. Avoid repeating the same thing over and over. It is okay to use automation to an extent, but mix it up. That violates Twitter's policies and will cause you to lose followers. It is okay to follow many other Twitter users, but make sure you focus your efforts on those who have something to do with your industry; people who are possible sources of business contacts and referrals. Organize your Twitter account so that you can at least keep up with what people you find particularly interesting are talking about. Make occasional comments directed specifically at some of the people you follow. Use specific keywords in your tweets, and sometimes use hashtags to emphasize those keywords.
