Blocking a certain individual can be done by visiting that person’s profile and clicking on Block User, which link can be found beneath the Send Message link. Once done, the now blocked user can no longer communicate with you. The most important thing is that one should be aware that the blocked user can still be able to view your profile but cannot be able to contact you any further.

If you choose that you do not want other MySpace users to view you profile you must set it to private. To do this, click on Account Settings and then click on Privacy Settings to make your profile private which can only be viewed by those people who you have approved to be friends with. In this way it prevents strangers as well as blocked users from seeing your page. Please be aware that when your profile is set to private some of your basic information, which includes gender, location and age, can still be seen by other users.

If you want to further protect oneself from any harassment or potential dangers you might get from MySpace, make sure that you follow the safety guidelines listed below.

To begin with, one must always keep in mind that even though you can block users and set your profile to private, MySpace.com is always going to be public. Hence, one must always make sure not to post any information on their page that would make it easier for strangers to contact and locate you.

One must be exercise to be cautious in adding just about every stranger to your friends list because not everyone is honest on whom they really are. They could pretend and lie about their age, gender and also interests. Although one can find it fun to meet and talk with new friends from all over the world, still it is very important to be very cautious about meeting anyone online.

MySpace.com does not support and do not promote harassment and any other inappropriate acts and contents. But because the site is so large it might be difficult for them to police every activity done by its users.
