How to increase your website's salesSubmitted by farouk Wed, 26 Aug 2009
Do you have a ghost site??
As I said many times before establishing trust is the most important factor in making money online. If you managed to let visitors trust your site you will be able to sell anything that is related to the website easily. One of the factors that sometimes prevents this trust from being established is having a ghost site. A ghost site is a site that appears to be abandoned by both the admin and the visitors because of the lack of certain notifications that shows that the website was recently updated. Ghost sites are sometimes updated daily yet they still appear to be ghost sites because of the poor choice of the placement of Html elements in the site. In this article I will tell you how to let your website appear crowded even if it has few visitors. How to increase my website sales The first thing you can do to give the impression that your website is being constantly improved is to add an updated "daily logo" on the site. This logo will help the visitors realize that the owners of this website haven't abandoned it yet. I was about to make donation to a certain site but then I noticed that the last time it was updated was few years ago and so I changed my mind!! I wasn't sure if someone will receive my money if I sent it now and that's why i decided not to do so before i contact them first. The same goes for online sales, no one can send you his money unless he makes sure you are always updating your website and that you are still there. The second thing you can do is to use a simple Javascript code to show the last time the site was updated. People are more likely to make a purchase from a site that was recently updated because they feel that their money won't be stolen. Of course adding new posts or adding a forum to your website will have the same effect. Increasing your site's sales using social proof You can also add a website hit counter so that the visitors can know that other people are visiting your site too. The social proof theory states that people tend to act like the crowd when they aren't sure of the actions that they should take. So if your website appeared to be popular it will become more popular. In summary, if people felt that your website is abandoned by either you or the crowed they will lose trust in it. And in the online world no trust = no sales.
