Lumba also formulated a long-term marketing strategy, listing up a number of consumer promotions and traffic building schemes. Tony Tan stressed that developing internal strengths was critical.
Another expansion that they did on that time was to re-design their stores, their services transformed into a full self-service, and added drive-thrus on their store operations.
Jollibee have gotten so big that they have decided on incorporating some expansions and acquisitions on other fast-food restaurants. On 2000, Jollibee acquired Chowking, allowing Jollibee to be part of the oriental quick service restaurant segment.
Similarly, Jollibee also acquired Red Ribbon Bakeshop on 2005, another popular fast-food restaurant in the Philippines.
