Set Out Your marketing Goals and Stick To Them

If you’re venturing into online marketing, coping with all the tasks you have to accomplish on a daily basis can often get overwhelming in a very short space of time. Toss in any marketing courses you've purchased or subscribed to and have to read and understand and it can often feel that you’re rapidly going under.

When your lists of things to do get longer than your arm, your time drain is unmanageable and probably doesn't come close to being an even trade-off for the profits dribbling in from your websites.

You can reverse this drain on your time with a simple priority list that will refocus you on what is truly important to the success of your businesses. Here are a few questions you need to consider before you dig a hole any deeper for yourself.

• What do you want the most from Internet Marketing?
• Are you expecting to just supplement your income?
• Are you anticipating a full-time income in a year or less?
• Can you work from home?
• Are you creating your own information products?
• Do you know how to work with PLR products?
• Have you identified your biggest time eaters?

That should get you started. Your next step is to identify your top three goals - and only three.
Sort them and put them in order of priority. Don't ask anyone for advice; the list should be what is most important to YOU. Well-meaning friends and colleagues will only be able to tell you what is important to THEM. You need to decide yourself.

Next, create an immediate `to-do’ list for your three priorities and focus your attention on the steps you need to take to get straightened out.

Let's discuss some things you might need clarified before you get your list written down.

Step 1: Recognize what you need to get a successful business online. Here are the basics:

• Get your domain name
• Build a squeeze page, a website sales page and a One Time Offer (OTO) page
• Subscribe to an autoresponder service to build your lists of subscribers
• Search for products, or create them
• Purchase at least a DSL or high speed Internet access that’s reliable
• Start using the marketing ideas you've learned at a basic level first

Step 2: Here is where you put the brakes on the frantic jumping here and there to post, read, download, blog, research, write and all those other activities you see experienced online marketers doing and recommending you do, too. Most of them have virtual assistants, help desk operators and ghostwriters.

What you need to do is make a weekly to-do list to accomplish your three major goals...that's all!
Print some and keep them together on a clipboard by your computer. When you finish a task, check it off so you can see your progress.

Don't get sidetracked by posting on blogs or on forums. It is easy to get distracted and lose hours when you should be doing something more productive. The contacts you can make on blogs and forums are important to your business, but limit the time you spend there everyday. Make it an hour a day while you are drinking your coffee and munching something with chocolate on it.

If you are starting your business on a part-time basis, you might want to schedule blogging, posting, checking out forums and researching on different days. Do not forget to take a day off each week to recharge your batteries and clear your head. Every marketer needs a brain break to stay fresh and focused, even you.

Planning is important, having a list to do is crucial, but the devil is in details - You have to stick to the plan.
