As either an SEO tool, a learning tool, a web based email application or a video playback device, Google has cornered the market in nearly every single, useable web application. Another great way of using Google Suggest is by downloading their toolbar. I am well aware that toolbars are the bane of a clean browser layout, but hear me out for a second. This toolbar not only has the coveted Google search box with automatic search suggestion tool, but it also comes with a graphical PageRank display, auto fill [extremely handy], a spell checker and dozens more practical tools to keep you smiling as you browse. I am not hesitant in saying that this is possibly the only toolbar that anyone should have on their computer.

This is all pretty cool stuff, you must be thinking. So how does Google do this? How does it know what you think? It’s simple to explain, but there are of course complex algorithms that are behind this masterpiece of design. Google uses their internal computations to predict queries that users are most likely to expect. Unlike other similar tools, Google Suggest does not browse through your own personal history for ideas. In fact, a search connected to your keyword, combined with their overall popularity is used to produce the suggested search terms. It’s a simple process with a complicated background, just like I said.

So there we have it, Google has created yet another winning product and delivered it straight to your door, (or Windows) so to speak.
