How To Get Your Articles Published in Article Directories

Submitted by nPresence

Article submission is one of the most effective ways to promote your site – and not to mention one of the most lost-cost way too! If you write excellent articles that you want to share to article sites and directories, submit them. Aside from the fact that you are making yourself popular as an author, it also gives you the chance to advertise your site, products and services.

There are numerous article directories on the web. Most of them depend on the articles and contents submitted or contributed to them. This means you can have as much article submission as possible. The more articles you submit, the greater your chance of having higher ranks and site traffic.

Article Submission Rules

It is certainly easy to write and submit articles, but there’s one simple problem. How can you be sure that article directories and sites will accept your articles? This can really be a concern if you don’t follow these article submission rules:

* Use short and clear paragraphs.

Article directories prefer to include in its list an article that is composed of short paragraphs rather than novel-long paragraphs. They also prefer articles that represent a clear and coherent point or idea rather than a group of sentences that point to nothing. This is due to the fact that online readers will be bored with long paragraphs and they will be frustrated in having wasted their time on irrelevant paragraphs.

* Stick to the point.

Online readers are usually the busy types. That means they won’t have time for long and wordy sentences that point out on a very simple idea. If you can present the idea in a few number of words, the better.

* Check Spelling and Grammar

One of the reasons why an article is not accepted in article directories is its grammar. An article is considered “poor” when words are misspelled or subjects and verbs do not agree. Little grammatical error like the use of apostrophe can throw your article on the trash. So be very careful, proofread your article before submission.

* Include a short resource box.

Your site’s resource box should carry only the relevant information about you as an author or about your site/online business. It should not tell everything about you – just the most relevant ones. Having a very long resource box is a turn-off for the article directories!

* Use the Standard Format.

Don’t give the editors an extra painstaking job of editing your articles just because you didn’t follow the standard format. The standard format – as defined by most editors – is plain text with 60-65 characters per line. Remember that editors don’t have enough time to edit your work, so what happens is that they ignore your articles instead of editing them.

* Don’t send your article as an attachment – unless requested

Some articles fail to be included in article directories because they are submitted as an attachment in emails. This is not a good practice in submission for two reasons: 1) editors may overlook the attachment, therefore, they won’t be able to open it; and 2) Afraid of virus threats, editors may not actually open the attachment especially if they don’t know anything about you.

These are what you need to do to ensure that your articles will be included in the article directories and sites. Don’t expect your article to appear on directories if you don’t follow these rules – and don’t submit – you will just be wasting your time and effort!
