How to identify Quality DirectoriesSubmitted by jackmack Wed, 12 Nov 2008
Using directories as you may know can help with your search engine optimisation and site traffic. However not all directories are equal in this article I discuss how to best identify the quality directories that can help with site traffic and search engine optimisation.
A good web directory can help with your SEO as web directories place your link in their directory within a category that is related to your website. All good web directories manually check your website to see if it is of good quality before they put your website live. Directories have submission guidelines that need to be followed to avoid rejection. Directories can also help with website traffic but only if this is a quality directory as a lot are really of poor quality and would just be a waste of time and in some cases money. So how do you check if it’s of good quality? Checking the Pagerank of the internal pages where you link is placed can be a good indication of how strong your link will be. Although Pagerank is not always a good indication of web directories strength but it will give you a general idea. Include your chosen keyphrases in your title of your submission, check to see if it allows deep linking, Deep linking refers to linking to page within your website other than the homepage this can really help your SEO. Most directories don’t let you use deep linking and the ones that do usually charge you more. You can however discover some hidden gems out there so keep your eyes open. If you’re looking for a good web directory I would try this one I found it my mistake and it is very strong submitting to it will only help your SEO. It even has an excellent SEO forum. If you are looking for a web directory that is going to bring you lots of traffic then you may be disappointed as these are few and far between unless they are really well used they really are only helpful for search engine optimisation. You will really have to just test the directories and see for yourself what works and what doesn’t. You should never submit to a paid directory without doing your research first before you sign up. Another idea would be to hire a good search engine optimisation company who will have a large database of good quality directories that they will submit your website to saving you all the hassle of the research and will save you money in the long run. Some good quality directories charge for inclusion but before you part with your cash follow these simple rules to check that they are worthy of your money.
