How To Influence Search Engine PositionsSubmitted by Chriss Tyrrell Mon, 5 Oct 2009
By now you must have at least a glimmer of an understanding that some type of promotional effort is required to get your website noticed on the Internet. What this translates into is SEO or search engine optimization, which is the means by which you get your site boosted up as close as possible to the front pages when people are searching for your products or services.
Get a List Of All Your Product Related Keywords So just how simple or how complex is this task and is it something that you as an owner or manager of a website can accomplish. The simple answer to that question is yes you can do it on your own, just as long as you're adequately informed. The first thing that you are going to have to become informed about is all of the related keywords. It's a Pretty Long List This would be the words or groups of words that people are using to search for your products or services or similar products or services. Right now you're probably aware of the main, most popular or most frequently used keywords but you'll be amazed when you see how many there actually are. Possibly well over a hundred. You Need Some Keyword Related Content In Your Site The first thing on your SEO to do list, if it hasn't already been done, is to get some keyword related content into your website. For instance, if you were in the business of selling cakes, you would need lots of content related to as many types of cakes as you possibly can. Now this doesn't mean that you want to overload your lead pages on your site. Keyword Articles Related To Your Products Or Services Make it easy on your visitors by displaying a list of articles that they can select from and click to. Interesting keyword related articles that are not too short and not too long. (Around 300 words). Your goal should be a list of at least some "ten or" so articles on popular types of (cakes) if your site is a cake site. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes, ice cream cakes, rum cakes, fruit cakes, holiday cakes, etc. etc. etc. Follow a Strict Keyword Placement Formula For Success Place the keyword or words "once" in the title of each article. "Once" in the first paragraph and "once" in the last paragraph. It also helps if you break up your articles into separate paragraphs with a headline caption over each paragraph. Now one of these captions over one of these paragraphs can also contain the keywords. This is all! Don't overdo keywords or Google will punished your site in the search engines for (keyword abuse). Be Careful Not To Make Your Articles "Overtly" Promotional When you're writing your product related articles, bear in mind that they can be on pretty much any topic that relates to the keyword, including history or instructional etc.. One other thing that is important to keep in mind is that you "try your best" to resist the temptation to make them too promotional. Of course you may want to occasionally "subtly slant" them in your direction, but just do so in a way that doesn't "turn off" your readers.
