When optimizing your website for search engines you must put in mind that one of the factors that affect your site's ranking is your domain name.

For example if you were searching for the keyword "Seo tips" then a website that has the domain name seo-tips.com will have a higher chance of appearing on the top of the results provided that all other factors are constant.

Since we all can't change our domain names easily, how can we make use of this information to get better search engine ranking?

How to leverage your domain name to get better ranking
If your domain name has any important keywords that are related to your content then write articles targeting these same keywords and your articles will have a much higher chance of coming up first in Google and other search engines.

For example, my website is called 2earn-online, instead of writing an article with the title "how to make money online" I would make the title "how to earn money online"

Since the article is optimized for the words earn, money and online the article might come up first in search engines but because the domain name of the site contains the same keyword (Earn) my article will have a much higher chance of coming up first :)

Choose your domain name wisely
If you didn't start a website yet or if you are planning to start another one then make sure that your new domain contains one or two if the most repeated keyword you are going to use.

This will help all of your articles get a better chance of ranking higher and will increase your search engine traffic.
