Make your content stand out be unique and be visable

Many of us ’old’ internet users remember when online promotion started, where advertising banners was how to get your product or website shown. But its not about making your text blink or standout with a bright yellow color that makes your visitors happy, actually quite the opposite, users would like to read text as they would on paper, because thats what they had always done, it keeps their concentration.

But how do you then make content more interesting?
The simple ground rules are the same for any text writing, devide your text into sections, to give the reader a better and clear view. Also small graphical images illustrating or symbolising what your writing about can be a great way to make your content look more interesting. For instance if your writing about some statistics put in a nice drawing of some statistics, or as simple as write about a product, then remember putting in some images of the product. Remember the order humans usually see content is, first the shapes, then images, and last text, so if the overall shapes the website gives does not live up to a users expectations he or she will not stay there for too long.

Make an event
Some things that may catch users better then educational text, pictures etc. is events or competitions, so if you annouce a competition on your website, it doesn’t even have to be a big prize, many people will be interested and read on just for the change of winning a prize for 10$.

Make visitors interact
Another thing to keep visitors is interaction, if you give your readers a way to interact on your website I’ll promise you, visitors will stay longer, and you will have a better chance getting their attention where you want it. Interaction could be a simple flash game in your site, the ability to write a comment to something, a small forum or something like that.
