Stay On the Right Side of Search Engines or Face Their Peril

Submitted by byerwills

It is becoming more and more apparent that people are trying to gain an advantage where they can to get ahead of the crowd, or just to better themselves against another. Large corporations are now suing individual's that try and illegally manipulate a system for personal gain, such as, click fraud in pay per click advertising. Here, web users go online and click endlessly on a paid advert in the sponsored ads section and try to bring down and increase the spend that a competitor may make. This can be quite devastating for those that are bidding highly on terms who later see their adverts simply disappear over night. These sorts of fraudulent behaviours are located when patterns emerge in data analytics and from here it is easy to distinguish which ones are real and natural and which ones are simply automated and unnatural.

Spam is also a big problem for most firms, as it is still possible for people to create an account, fill a forum or blog entry with rubbish that is inappropriate and unsuitable for the target audience, and get away with it.

Authorities are cutting down on the use of this and Google itself does not take very kindly to any website that has associations to such sites. Google tries to serve the most relevant and accurate results to its users for every term that is typed into the search engine. With an index containing spam, it is very difficult to separate what is relevant and what is good quality content to serve users. When carrying out an Internet Marketing campaign, users are advised to avoid spamming techniques as they have no benefit when trying to get sites up the engines. Also, associations with fraudulent or spammy sites result in disastrous consequences.

When embarking on a Search Engine Marketing Campaign, one needs to know what to look out for so that you know what to avoid.
