Three Resources for Quality BackLinks RevealedSubmitted by Cristian Thu, 11 Mar 2010
What are your chances of striking an SEO bargain called free links? The answer would be: very slim chances. When you're on a budget and need a starting piece for online marketing, the biggest investment is time.
The reason is obvious - besides building quality content that interest other marketers, you also need to run a strong promotion campaign for the community to notice your work. The best strategy for generating exposure for your site is to abandon back link chase and concentrate on publishing quality blocks of content, informational products or just a well optimized cool new site to mark your presence online. Here are some other places to look at for generating quality free back links: 1.Alternatives to classical content syndication 2. More elusive methods of building links from private websites 3. Social media as a link provider 1. Generalizing Content Syndication Targeting relevant link sources is one thing, but convincing the other part to take positive action by implementing your link is a total new battle you must win. You stand a good chance of acceptance if you show yourself available for a writing gig that will be placed on their site, of course with a link back to your website. Considering that innovation is rather scarce in today's web, you might even think providing a snippet of your future work just to make the proposal sound more professional. A solid knowledge of your niche is all that's necessary; if you lack confidence in your writing skills resort to a ghost writer to put your ideas on a notepad. No subject comes to mind? Revise your previous writings, pick one and give it a total maker over. This further improves your site's relevancy and also promotes previous content to new readership. Without doubt article and press release directories still represent a good source of back links but the problem with them is that some take forever to get your content publicized and indexed by SEs. With Blogs and theme related websites the process is accelerated, plus you enjoy a certain level of exclusivity as compared with ADs with thousands of active pen names and articles waiting in line to be promoted on the home page. Only target sites with strong Alexa rankings (under 100.000) and at least PR3 as shown by Google's toolbar. Also, see where best players publish their content and join them there. 2. Testimonials in exchange for free back links A testimonial should and is generally accompanied by a link pointing to the customer's website. If this doesn't happen, even after a quick follow up, you can just as well retract it. In some cases, testimonials mean in reality link reciprocation and mutual promotion between two or more online marketers. Don't ever make unrealistic or unverified affirmation especially on little know products that don't originate from the top marketers. Just promote products and services from recognized marketers and they delivered results in your own hands. 3. Social media platforms Some easy to get free back links can be obtained from social bookmarking sites, granted that you stick only with the best rated platforms like Digg.com, StumbledUpon and Reddit. Top bookmarking platforms, like Digg.com have 2 simple rules for content promotion. 1) Never be self promoting and 2) never use automation. Apart from social bookmarking you can use social media platforms like HubPages and Squidoo where you create useful tutorials and "how to"s of interest for your niche. Leverage the existing ranking power of these two platforms by publishing some of your content on them then build a handful of backlinks for the new content pages and finally point these web pages back to your own website. Note: embed the back links in the actual text body to carry more weight. Concentrate your bookmarking efforts to only established platforms with active social interaction and never, bookmark content on websites powered by open source software like Pligg and Ning. Due to the fact they resemble more to a spam nursery, Google completely ignores them.
