Tips to bring your site on top in search engines

It is the fact that web sites get more than 80% visitors from search engines like google, yahoo and msn. Only 20% web visitors know about a web site from local media, friends and other directory. So a new web site has to compete widely to be listed on the top of such search engines for specific search terms.

In my personal experience I have faced a lot of things while trying to be listed on the top of such search engines. Out of those search engines google is the hero. A survey showed that more than 90% net surfers know the google. And out of them 85% prefer to use it for searching their prefer information. 80% advertisers get success in google adwords program and almost 92% general web publishers use google adsense for monetizing their web site.

Due to the isolating popularity among web surfers, publishers and advertisers almost all web site owners prefer to be on top in google search terms. Being in the top in such search terms is not easy job. Therefore a lot of web site owners use some tricks to be on the top. But those tricks are not long lasting. I am going to provide here some useful points to help you to bring your web site on top search terms:

Things to be considered to get best ranking in search terms:
1. Prepare your contents (articles, images & designs) properly.
2. Place contents on the page in alphabetical order.
3. Provide links to the pages (not more than 100 links in a page)
4. Don’t send duplicate links to any pages from the same page.
5. Don’t use any hidden texts or keywords to show adequacy of contents to the crawler.
6. Check for broken links and remove if you found any.
7. Write contents for user not for search engines.
8. Choose best keywords and description related to your page contents. Don’t load unnecessary keywords otherwise crawler will ignore your page.
9. Use site map(html or xml for google) & RSS feeds properly
10. Don’t provide unnecessary external links. It means don’t participate link farming tricks. But search the similar sites and provide links to them and place your link in their pages.
11. Update your pages regularly. It is the best idea to create new pages instead of updating existing pages only.
12. Create discussion forum in your web site.
13. Create blog in your web site.
