Incredibly powerful, yet holding many secrets is the concept of SEO. Some tell us to do one thing for being fully optimized, while others stop us from the same. What is the real truth about Search Engines and their processes of ranking? Read and find out.
There is a great deal of SEO buzz we come across every day. So many myths, so much confusion—we have found out the top 7 myths of SEO and the true facts about them, here they are:
Myth#1—Meta tags rule the search engines
The philosophy states Meta tags being the top factor in search engine rankings. Wrong! In fact many of the search engines, particularly Google pays no heed to the Meta tags. Simply popping keywords in the Meta tag will not help list your site for that keyword. So forget about this Meta tag hype and concentrate on the other aspects of raising your rankings.
Myth#2—bad links to your site are harmful
A general myth is that you get bad links, and your site is doomed! If so, everyone would leave their own ranking and start concentrating on how to link each and every rotten link to their competitors' site. Links to unnecessary sites may irritate the visitors, but certainly not the search engines.
Myth#3—submitting your site to 10,000 Search Engines will take you higher
First of all, there aren't any 10,000 search engines out there! Secondly, the programs or services you may use to submit your site are actually the FFA (Free for All) sites, also known as "link farms". You get no traffic whatsoever from such sites. Instead, the email address information you provide them while submitting your link, sure does get a lot of spam!
Myth#4—guaranteed number 1 ranking
Let me be simple; your search engine company is the marketer, not the owner of Search Engines. There can be no guarantee to your Search Engine ratings, and if anyone does give you one, you better clutch on to your wallet a bit tighter. Offline advertising may guarantee your placement and position etc, but with SEO …no chance!
Myth#5—you don't need to update your site once you have maintained good rankings.
If you want to improve your rankings gradually yet progressively, you have to make certain updates from time to time. These changes made to your site will help the search engines crawl it more easily.
It certainly sounds logical and obviously less troublesome to leave everything alone you're your site has gained a pretty good status at search engines. What's the need to rock the boat for no reason? Yes, there certainly is. If we hold that once a particular site has achieved the top rankings and will never budge from there, then what's this whole debate of SEO for? Why would anyone strive to get their sites visible when none of the changes would occur in the rankings of already present sites? Therefore, by regular updates and maintenance, you are actually allowing the spiders to re-creep your site for any further changes.
Myth#6—Obtaining more than one domain names is good
This is a total absurd concept. Getting a number of domain or site names will not increase anything other than your competition, effort, and costs. Having one effective site is way better than several weak ones.
Myth#7—In-House SEO services are Cheaper
Sure they are and so are their results! There is no substitute of experience and skills. So, spending a few extra bucks to get the service of professionals will never harm you in any way. SEO demands more of hard work and time, thus a dedicated team of expertise working several hours a day is what you require to get up there…not some in-house service providers already having several other tasks at hand.
