Why Early Identification of Keyphrases are Important to your Websites Development.

Having a successful profitable website can depend on many factors, none more important than effective keyphrases selection. If you get your keyphrases wrong then it can have a major effect on your website.

As SEO or search engine optimisation can take months to take effect, finding out six months down the road that you have selected poor keyphrases that aren’t returning anything on your investment can be a hard pill to swallow. That’s why it’s very important you get it right from the get go.

When doing your keyphrase research try and think of targeted keyphrases because if you go for the more general keyphrases you will find that they are harder to get good listings for and the traffic will be of poor quality.

Let’s go into this in a little more detail, let’s take a fictitious company called Tartan Paint. Now you may think that “paint” may be a great keyphrase to use but in fact no. Doing a search on Google for “paint” yields 188,000,000 results. Now this keyphrase would be hard to get onto page one for and is far to general for Tartan Paints as they only sell tartan paint, and someone looking for any other kind of paint won’t find this site very useful.

So a far more targeted keyphrase would be of course “tartan paint” and as the time of writing this article Google yielded 168,000 results which is a far more achievable keyphrase. This may be a very simple example but I think you get the point.

If you are looking for a good website design Edinburgh I found this company to be of great help and can help you to increase website traffic.

Use your imagination and try to drill down to specific targeted keyphrases and your traffic will be far more targeted. Using the Google keyword tool can be a good place to check if your chosen keyphrases are actually been typed into there search engine. Some other good tools are Keyword Discovery and
Wordtracker, although the later two tools aren’t free but are a great resource for finding good long tailed targeted keyphrases.

If you’re having trouble coming up with keyphrases try asking your friends and work colleges for ideas, as this could discover some hidden jems that you may not have thought of. Just remember that keyphrases are the foundation of your SEO campaign and need to be taken seriously.
