Marketing your Website with ArticlesSubmitted by Josh Spaulding Fri, 5 Oct 2007
Many Webmasters and marketers drive loads of traffic to their Websites and blogs through article marketing. It is a very effective means to drive targeted traffic to your Website, but it depends on how much you write, how often you write, the quality of the writing and the market you are targeting.
Many people don’t want to consider writing as a way to promote their Websites and because of this, many will throw together a few articles hoping that someone will click their byline. The reality is that unless you write interesting articles which are helpful, people have no reason to visit your website or blog. However, don’t let that intimidate you. Most people have an abundance of information in their heads they just don’t realize it. If your Website is on a topic that you have a passion for, or you at least enjoy it, you should be able to come up with all kinds of interesting topics. Think of things that you’ve experienced inside that topic. Write about things that are interesting to you and may be interesting to others. You might be wondering how to get started on your article marketing campaign. The first thing you need to do is decide on the topic of the articles. There is no point in writing articles on dieting and using them to promote a site on dogs for instance because there is no relevancy in the subject matter. People will not normally be interested in your Website if it’s not directly related to the article topic. If you write articles on dog training, they should be used to promote a site about dog training. Once you’ve decided the niche or market you are going to target then you should start writing articles and submitting them to article directories. When writing these articles, think of problems that people in the “niche” tend to have. Come up with an answer to their problems or a way to relieve the problem in some way. Most people search for information on problems they are having. They may have a medical problem; they may need to find techniques to beat a game etc. Find these problems and help solve them, but don’t completely solve the problem(s). The ultimate goal is to write a valuable article that provides good information, but does not “spill the beans” totally. If you answer all of their questions they have no reason to visit your site, as their question(s) has been answered. Consider the length of the articles you will use for your marketing campaign. If the article is too long many people will leave, as most people scan for quick answers. If your article is too short the article directory may not accept it and it may not provide valuable information either. The biggest problem for many people is their lack of ideas on what to write about. If the information isn’t worth anything, you run the risk of the directory declining your article. They will want articles that are relevant not just written for search engines. To get ideas research other sites in your niche. Never copy the information, but learn from them and compose articles related to that subtopic under your niche. When you come up with an idea write it down. After time those ideas will pile up and you’ll have plenty of interesting topics to write about. Write well and often and you will reap the rewards of effective article marketing. About the Author
