The fact is that you can make money with a good website. So does it make a difference if the design of the website is good or not? Why of course it does! Just ask yourself where on this planet any business isn't made better by better presentation! So now that that issue is resolved, lets move on to the specific reasons why this is so and how you can apply them to your business's website.

The Internet Is Crowded With Millions Of People!

Sure the Internet is crowded with millions of people and this fact alone can lead some people to believe that just by virtue of the fact that they have a website up, any type of site, that they will get business from it. So they get their low budget site that they had their forklift drivers cousin design and absolutely nothing happens.

Man! Thats a Nice Looking Website!

Sure its a great looking site! Nice pictures and some pretty clever informational text thats actually quite interesting to read! Well enjoy it well, cause you and your staff are going to be the only ones reading it! The reason is simple and thats that the guy who designed your site doesn't know a damn thing about "search engine optimization"!

Understanding Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is the means by which your site is designed and promoted in such way that it entices the "gods" at Google to move it up in the search engines. Go ahead! Type in the name of the service or products that are featured in your site. When the pages pop up wouldn't it be nice to have your site the first one on the first page?!

Your Running a Business! - Not a Museum!

Now the next thing that you need to focus on is getting all the visitors that are going to be flocking to your site to pull out there wallets. After all, its a business your running not a museum! So what you need is to get your grubby hands on their email addresses and some basic information on their preferences with regards to what your marketing.

Mastering the "Art" Of Harvesting Email Addresses

Sure you can simply put a space on one of the pages where they can fill in their email address. The problem with that though is that if their giving it to you that easily, their also doing it for everyone else. Email them back and they'll simply delete it, just like the do all the other emails their getting hammered with. What you need is "prime" email addresses from people that play hard to get.

A Nice Non Promotional Ebook

What you need to do is to write up a nice "non promotional informational ebook that contains lots of information on the products or services that your offering. Its very tempting to "go promotional" with it but don't. Its a "customer turn off"! Hey! Your the kind of business person that they can trust to give them honest unbiased info! Offer it in exchange for filling out a survey and giving up their email address!

Ten Good Addresses are Always Better Than Twenty Junk Addresses

Now each email address that you receive this way also comes with some information from the short survey that you can use when you do finally email them back with your sales pitch. Also, collectively this information can be used for the development of future adjustments to your website as well as products or services you can market. Remember that the more difficult that email addresses are to get from people, the more valuable and "viable" they are.
