Simple is Beautiful

Submitted by crestmediainc

Simple is beautiful, it's a good philosophy to go by when it comes to web design. This isn't only a cliché saying for the minimalist mind, but it's a widely accepted practice among web designer because of the fact that it works. Most of the simple websites are more successful than the most eye indulging website, so what's the reason behind this fact?

According to an Orange County web design firm, Crest Media Inc., bearing simplicity in mind is a good characteristic for any web designer but since you are out to catch the eye of probable customers, being too simple isn't any good, they should find a balance between keeping it simple and designing it enough that a viewer will be interested to dig around your site for the content. It goes something like, catch their eye with a bit of design and keep them coming back with meaningful content.

But how can you keep it simple when it comes to design itself? Here are a few tips to keep it simple and at the same time keeping it professional.

* Minimize the use of images - I believe that sometimes simple designs are the most effective for the web. Keep your site simple but neat. Don't clutter your page with big, bulky images that take ages to load. Instead use tables creatively and design eye - catching icons that will draw a visitor's attention to a particular section of your site. Visitors are usually more interested in content than in design.
* Use of white space - Try not to clutter up your page with too many images, backgrounds and colorful fonts. Again use the Keep It Simple principle by minimizing the use of graphics and using a lot of white space. White space gives a sense of spaciousness and overall neatness to a site.

These are just some of the many techniques you can use to make your website simple but beautiful and functional, remember that your website isn't all about the design it's about presenting the company behind the website and letting their message get across to their audience. If you want to know more about this Orange County web design firm, just visit www.crestmediainc.com and learn from their example.
