Web Designing - Prime Considerations for Writing the Content

Submitted by spinxwebdesign

When the content of a website is to be written, the writer needs to be extra careful. The text content is neither like the write up of the brochure nor any hand bill. When the content of any website is to be written some of the prime considerations are as follows.

Different from print:
The website media is quite different from the print media. The language and especially the tone that is used in print media should not be used for the website content. It hardly takes any time for the visitor to feel offended because of the wrong tone that is used. Pitching online is drastically different from pitching offline. Studies have proved that the language that works on print is not that effective for online marketing.

Understandable for the target audience:
Before preparing the content of any website the level of literacy of the targeted audience needs to be assessed. If the text in the website is filled with technical jargons that can be hardly understood by the targeted audience then the website will not be able to convey any message. This implies that the vocabulary that has to be used should be as simple as possible and understood by the visitors.

Keep away from the Landing Pages:
The visitors usually find the landing pages to be sales oriented and not marketing oriented. The current trend of the market is towards marketing orientation and not sales orientation. Moreover the landing pages are usually too long to go through and this can make the visitor lose interest in the website and its offerings. This means that the landing pages should be avoided at all costs.

Justify what is written:
Whatever is mentioned in the content text should be justified and based on research. This will make the visitor believe in what is mentioned on the website. If the content is not justified, an element of doubt can set in and this can be detrimental for the business. So research should to be conducted prior to writing any website content.

Keep it short and simple (KISS):
Usually visitors do not like to read long paragraphs. It is better to keep the paragraphs short so that the visitor is tempted to read it. On the other hand if simple language is used to convey a direct message the visitor would like it because his/her time is not wasted.

Balance between the search engines and the human factor:
It is buyer who finally runs the business because if he/she were not to buy the offerings made through the website the website would not be able to survive. The content needs to be first prepared with the target audience into consideration and then the search engine. It is but natural that if the target audience is going to like the website they are going to repeatedly visit it and this could lead to the website being ranked higher on the search engine list.
